My name is:
Daniëlle Kempen
I am known for being:
A very positive and open person, but also as a Stylist & Creative working in the fashion industry.
Currently I am:
Half-way through my pregnancy, the journey toward giving birth to our little girl.
My journey into motherhood so far has been:
Natural. Although I am very career driven, I have always seen myself as a mother. In my mind these things go hand-in-hand, but we will have to wait and see whether that will really be the case.
"Now, during my pregnancy, it’s all about striking a balance between being active and taking the rest my body needs. I am forced to listen to my body, which can be difficult. When my week is very busy, I slow down and pull back, focussing on walks outside, stretching and meditation rather than more strenuous practices. When I have a slower week, I do more active workouts."
I keep my body healthy through:
Positivity, long walks through nature, Yoga & Pilates. But also in maintaining that balance between eating in a healthy way and enjoying life.
I keep my mind healthy by:
Meditating. Despite the fact that it can be very difficult at times, I try to live in the moment as much as possible.
Self-care is important to me because:
It gives me the space and freedom to be who I am.
In my experience, movement - especially during pregnancy - is important because:
I’m used to practicing Yoga or Pilates three or four times a week. But now, during my pregnancy, it’s all about striking a balance between being active and taking the rest my body needs. I am forced to listen to my body, which can be difficult. When my week is very busy, I slow down and pull back, focussing on walks outside, stretching and meditation rather than more strenuous practices. When I have a slower week, I do more active workouts like Vinyasa Yoga or Pilates.
"Don’t make things too hard for yourself. Really listen to your body."
It has helped me personally because:
Whether it’s an active workout or a very slow one, I feel more strength in my body. I imagine this really helps during pregnancy and helps support my body in the changes it’s experiencing.
Here is how it can help you too:
Don’t make things too hard for yourself. Really listen to your body.
Some things I’ve learned during my journey to motherhood are:
Now that I have passed 20 weeks, I no longer fit any underwear! My body has been growing so gradually, but now I suddenly no longer fit any of my clothes! Haha!
Recharging means:
Silence & nature.
Connecting means:
Love.
My journey to motherhood in a few words is:
Until now; love, unexpected ailments (nobody talks about the itch!), counting weeks and time flies (at the same time!).
